• Asharqia Chamber monitors the challenges of Saudization in the Logistics Sector

    On Tuesday 05 February 2019, Asharqia Chamber organized a workshop "the challenges of Saudization in the Logistics Sector" at the headquarter of the Chamber in Dammam.

    The workshop emphasized the importance of cooperation between training institutions (government and private) with institutions operating in this sector in order to implement training programs and decisions consistent with the requirements of the labor market in this field.

    Participants in the workshop stressed the need for coordination between all actors involved in training, especially as the logistics sector is a diversified sector of activities, and there are many requirements of the companies, so the job opportunities are diverse.

     

    A member of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber and the Chairman of the Logistics Committee, Bender bin Rafi al-Jabri, who conducted the workshop dialogues, said that one of the most prominent national options at present is to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics platform through depending on the arms of its people and their ability to employ the Kingdom's logistical advantages to be a global destination for the flow of world trade.

    He stressed the ability of young Saudi to vacate all high-level jobs as well as modest in this area, which is a labor-intensive sector.

    He pointed out that during the past years, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques launched a partnership with the private sector to expand the internal transport networks and the establishment of ports, airports and railways, which positively affected the movement of goods and products and increase investment opportunities and employment in the sector.

    Therefore, "we have great opportunities to attract eligible Saudi youth, male and female alike," he said.

     

    Al-Jabri stressed the keenness of Asharqia Chamber and its social responsibility to combat unemployment, attract new graduates and qualify them to work in the private sector.

    He called on the logistics companies that participated in the workshop to raise the list of jobs that they aspire to be vacated by the Saudi youth.

    Therefore, the Chamber, represented by the Logistic Committee, applies the National Training Centers (private and governmental) to design programs that bridge this gap and contribute to supporting the Kingdom's 2030 Vision in support of all Saudization programs.

     

    The workshop, which is part of the activities of the Logistics Committee in the Chamber, witnessed the attendance and participation of representatives of a number of training institutions (private and governmental), as they confirmed their readiness to implement training programs that qualify the Saudi youth to all professions and jobs in the private sector logistics.

    They stressed the need to be limited to these functions and identify the needs and coordination on them since any opens specialization must be coordinated and the availability of all requirements, especially as companies operating in the logistics sector multiple requests and needs, which confirms the need for the required job description.

     

    In contrast, the representatives of some companies specialized in the logistics field emphasized the need for qualified national cadres on many vacant positions.

    They expressed their readiness to attract Saudi talent to work in both small and large jobs, and what the national elements, but the basic principles and requirements of the work in these areas, including English language, dealing with information technology, responsibility and work pressure, and then gradually gain experience on the job.

     

    They called for the opening of more specialized training institutes, which provide specialized training in this regard, especially as big companies giant stresses the issue of resettlement in its new contracts with private companies.

    The workshop stressed the need for the training curricula provided by colleges, institutes and universities to be consistent with the need of the labor market in this regard.

    The participants agreed on the need to study the international experiences in the field of training national cadres on logistics work.
